Dardanos Fine Foods Salad and Meze Set
A well-prepared salad or meze table should not use the same dressing on every dish. Artichokes and tomatoes require different finishing choices, just as seafood and cheese need different forms of balance. The Dardanos Fine Foods Salad and Meze Set brings together lemon, orange and basil extra virgin olive oils for three distinct roles. The purpose is not to add unnecessary ingredients, but to make it easier to choose the correct finishing oil for each plate.
Products Included in the Selection
The set includes Lemon Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Orange Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Basil Extra Virgin Olive Oil. In each product, the relevant fresh ingredient is co-pressed with the olives on the same day. Lemon, orange and basil are integrated during production rather than added to finished olive oil later.
The Role of Lemon Olive Oil
Lemon olive oil works with artichokes, sea beans, fava, green salads, avocado and seafood. Add it after fish or prawns have finished cooking to keep the citrus character clear. A few drops are enough for yoghurt-based meze. When dressing green leaves, add salt first and the oil second, then decide whether additional acidity is needed. This prevents unnecessary lemon juice or vinegar from disturbing the existing balance of the oil.
Different Roles for Orange and Basil
Orange olive oil gives a rounder citrus finish to salads containing goat cheese, rocket, walnuts, fennel or beetroot. Basil olive oil has a direct relationship with tomatoes, mozzarella, burrata, bruschetta and roasted vegetables. Rather than using all three products randomly across one table, match each oil to the main ingredient of the dish. This allows every finishing oil to remain distinct and prevents the menu from repeating one general taste.
Organising the Table
On a large meze table, serving the oils beside the dishes rather than adding them all in advance allows guests to control the quantity. Position lemon near seafood and green meze, basil near tomato and cheese, and orange near sweet-sour salads. For guests who prefer a classic foundation without fruit or herbs, Extra Virgin Olive Oil can be added as a fourth option.
Storage
Store all products in the set in a cool, dry cupboard away from direct sunlight. Close the caps firmly after use to help retain the character of lemon, orange and basil. Do not place the products beside the hob, oven or an area regularly exposed to steam. Natural cloudiness or solidification may occur in cold conditions and will clear at room temperature. Do not add fresh fruit, herbs, water or sauces to the oils.
